ADHD is a ‘neurodevelopmental’ disorder which can affect a number of areas of brain function. With understanding, care and holistic treatment, people with ADHD can be successfully supported to improve their quality of life. Children and Adults with ADHD may experience difficulties with:

For you to have ADHD, the symptoms have to be severe enough to cause ongoing problems in more than one area of your life. As you grow older, diagnosing ADHD becomes more difficult because some of the symptoms are similar to those caused by other conditions, such as anxiety or depression. This makes getting an ADHD assessment as soon as possible vital for an accurate diagnosis.
We gather family, medical and neurodevelopmental history through our standardised questionnaires during the screening process.
Then we meet you for a feedback session for around 60 mins (face to face or online) where we gather additional information and go through the findings of the questionnaires and decide next steps.
If the decision is to continue with the ADHD pathway, we continue with the next phase in the pathway…
You will meet a Consultant for the Diva Assessment which lasts around 90 -120 mins. This focuses on the type of ADHD existent and behaviour now in relation to childhood. The details are passed onto the specialist for your diagnosis appointment. This appointment is face to face or online.
You will meet the Psychiatrist or a Consultant Clinical Psychologist for a 60 minute appointment who will assess whether you meet the criteria for an ADHD diagnosis, and may ask you further questions. Treatment plans can then be discussed at an additional cost. A comprehensive report will follow with next steps and recommendations.
Costings are in two parts.

ADHD is quite common, and many people living with it are not aware of it. Most people believe the condition is behavioural or a lack of management. However, the condition affects how the brain manages focus, impulse control, organisation, and emotional regulation.
ADHD can quietly impact education, career progression, relationships, and mental well-being long before it is formally recognised. A private ADHD assessment offers a timely and thorough way to understand these challenges and gain clarity about the most appropriate next steps.

ADHD is a neurodevelopmental condition that affects how the brain manages attention, impulse control, and activity levels. It is not caused by laziness, lack of intelligence, or poor parenting. Instead, ADHD reflects differences in brain structure and function that influence how individuals process information and respond to their environment.
People with ADHD often experience difficulty sustaining attention, managing time, controlling impulses, or regulating emotions. These challenges can present differently from one person to another, which is why ADHD is often misunderstood or overlooked, particularly in adults.
Although ADHD is a lifelong condition, individuals can develop effective strategies to manage symptoms and thrive in daily life with an accurate diagnosis and appropriate support.
ADHD is recognised in several forms, based on how symptoms present. Identifying the correct form helps clinicians tailor treatment and provide effective support.
This form involves difficulties with focus, organisation, and following instructions. Individuals may appear quiet or withdrawn, but often struggle internally with mental overload and forgetfulness.
This presentation is marked by restlessness, impulsive behaviour, and difficulty remaining still or waiting. Symptoms are often more visible and may be identified earlier in childhood.
The combined form includes both inattentive and hyperactive-impulsive symptoms. This is the most common presentation and often affects multiple areas of life, including education, work, and relationships.
ADHD assessment is often downplayed, despite being an important step toward improving functioning and finding the right interventions for the condition.
An ADHD assessment helps identify whether ongoing difficulties stem from ADHD or another underlying condition that has the same symptoms, such as ADHD such as anxiety and depression.
Many individuals spend years struggling without answers, often blaming themselves for challenges that are neurological in nature.
Some of the reasons why you should consider getting an ADHD assessment include the following:
Undiagnosed ADHD is frequently linked to anxiety, depression, and low self-esteem.
Understanding ADHD can relieve feelings of guilt or inadequacy by providing a clear explanation for long-standing difficulties.
Timely diagnosis allows access to support strategies that reduce stress and improve overall quality of life.
There is no single right age or time to seek an ADHD assessment. ADHD can be diagnosed in childhood, adolescence, or adulthood, depending on when symptoms become noticeable or problematic.
Certain life stages or challenges often lead people to seek an assessment.
Struggles with deadlines, organisation, or concentration can become more apparent in demanding environments such as university or professional roles.
Major changes such as starting higher education, becoming a parent, or taking on increased responsibilities may highlight ADHD symptoms that were previously manageable.
When considering an ADHD assessment, you’re faced with the choice of going for an NHS assessment or a private assessment. Although there are costs associated with a private assessment, it is not without benefits, which include:
A private ADHD assessment in Cambridge includes an in-depth evaluation conducted by experienced clinicians. This involves exploring developmental history, current symptoms, and how challenges affect daily life across different settings.
Clinicians use structured interviews and evidence-based assessment tools aligned with clinical guidelines.
These tools help determine whether symptoms meet diagnostic criteria and identify the specific ADHD presentation.
Where appropriate, information from family members, partners, or teachers may be included to provide a well-rounded view.
Following the assessment, you receive a clear outcome and a comprehensive written report. This report explains the diagnosis, outlines findings, and provides practical recommendations for treatment and support.
Getting an assessment is a good place to start. However, after the assessment, it is crucial to follow the appropriate recommendations to ensure long-term benefits.
After the assessment, the clinician will explain the findings in detail, ensuring you understand what the diagnosis means for you or your child. This discussion is an opportunity to ask questions and explore how ADHD affects daily life.
Treatment plans are tailored to individual needs and circumstances.
Medication may be recommended where appropriate to help manage core ADHD symptoms, such as inattention or impulsivity.
Therapy, coaching, and lifestyle strategies often play a key role in managing ADHD and improving long-term outcomes.
