ADHD is a ‘neurodevelopmental’ disorder which can affect a number of areas of brain function. With understanding, care and holistic treatment, people with ADHD can be successfully supported to improve their quality of life. Children and Adults with ADHD may experience difficulties with:

For you to have ADHD, the symptoms have to be severe enough to cause ongoing problems in more than one area of your life. As you grow older, diagnosing ADHD becomes more difficult because some of the symptoms are similar to those caused by other conditions, such as anxiety or depression. This makes getting an ADHD assessment as soon as possible vital for an accurate diagnosis.
We gather family, medical and neurodevelopmental history through our standardised questionnaires during the screening process.
Then we meet you for a feedback session for around 60 mins (face to face or online) where we gather additional information and go through the findings of the questionnaires and decide next steps.
If the decision is to continue with the ADHD pathway, we continue with the next phase in the pathway…
You will meet a Consultant for the Diva Assessment which lasts around 90 -120 mins. This focuses on the type of ADHD existent and behaviour now in relation to childhood. The details are passed onto the specialist for your diagnosis appointment. This appointment is face to face or online.
You will meet the Psychiatrist or a Consultant Clinical Psychologist for a 60 minute appointment who will assess whether you meet the criteria for an ADHD diagnosis, and may ask you further questions. Treatment plans can then be discussed at an additional cost. A comprehensive report will follow with next steps and recommendations.
Costings are in two parts.

ADHD is quite common, and many people living with it are not aware of it. Most people believe the condition is behavioural or a lack of management. However, the condition affects how the brain manages focus, impulse control, organisation, and emotional regulation.
ADHD can quietly impact education, career progression, relationships, and mental well-being long before it is formally recognised. A private ADHD assessment offers a timely and thorough way to understand these challenges and gain clarity about the most appropriate next steps.

Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder is a neurological condition that affects the brain’s functionality and ability to regulate focus, behaviour, and impulse control. Contrary to popular opinion, the condition is not caused by poor motivation or lack of discipline. Instead, it results from structural and functional differences in the brain, particularly in areas responsible for executive functioning and self-regulation.
ADHD can present in three recognised forms:
Symptoms may include difficulty concentrating, impulsive behaviour, restlessness, forgetfulness, or challenges with organisation and emotional control. These symptoms can vary between individuals and often change with age and environment.
With proper assessment and support, those with ADHD can thrive by developing coping strategies that improve daily functioning and overall well-being.
An ADHD assessment is one of the tools we use to diagnose ADHD. It includes a structured clinical evaluation and various tools that help determine whether a person meets the diagnostic criteria for ADHD.
Our ADHD assessment explores:
A professional diagnosis allows individuals and families to better understand the challenges they face and provides a foundation for accessing support, treatment, and coping strategies.
The NHS also provides thorough ADHD assessments, but because of the high demand and long waiting lines, many people opt for private assessments. Some of the reasons why you should also consider our private ADHD assessment include the following:
Private assessments can be booked quickly, meaning you receive answers sooner and begin exploring appropriate support without long delays.
Private assessments often provide more time with clinicians and a deeper exploration of symptoms. This leads to a clearer, more comprehensive understanding of your needs.
Following the assessment, you receive a detailed diagnostic report with clinical findings, strategies for symptom management, and guidance for next steps.
Our private assessments are structured, supportive, and designed to feel comfortable and informative at every stage.
A private assessment does not replace NHS support. Instead, it gives you the clarity you need now, helping you access treatment options and accommodations more quickly.
Children, teenagers, and adults can all benefit from an ADHD assessment if they are experiencing persistent difficulties related to focus, behaviour, or emotional regulation. While ADHD often becomes noticeable in childhood, many people reach adulthood without a diagnosis, especially if their symptoms were overlooked or misunderstood in school.
You may benefit from an ADHD assessment if you or your child experiences:
Parents may wish to seek an assessment if their child struggles academically or socially, or if teachers have raised concerns about attention or behaviour. Adults often seek assessment after noticing long-term patterns of difficulty with work, relationships, or day-to-day responsibilities.
A private ADHD assessment with Neuro Medical Group in Cardiff is detailed, structured, and designed to ensure accuracy and clarity. Our assessments follow clinical best-practice guidelines and include several key components.
You will be asked to complete forms outlining symptoms, developmental history, and daily challenges. For children, we may also request information from teachers or school staff.
A specialist clinician will explore your symptoms, behaviour, and personal or family history in depth. This conversational assessment helps identify patterns and provides context that questionnaires alone cannot capture.
These validated tools measure symptoms against recognised ADHD diagnostic criteria and help determine their severity and impact.
The clinician will assess whether symptoms may be influenced by anxiety, depression, learning differences, or other factors.
Based on all information gathered, the clinician determines whether ADHD is present and, if so, which type.
You receive a detailed diagnostic report summarising the findings, diagnosis (if applicable), and personalised recommendations for treatment, strategies, school or workplace adjustments, and next steps.
Neuro Medical Group ensures that every assessment is compassionate, thorough, and designed to empower individuals and families with the understanding they need.
