ADHD is a ‘neurodevelopmental’ disorder which can affect a number of areas of brain function. With understanding, care and holistic treatment, people with ADHD can be successfully supported to improve their quality of life. Children and Adults with ADHD may experience difficulties with:

For you to have ADHD, the symptoms have to be severe enough to cause ongoing problems in more than one area of your life. As you grow older, diagnosing ADHD becomes more difficult because some of the symptoms are similar to those caused by other conditions, such as anxiety or depression. This makes getting an ADHD assessment as soon as possible vital for an accurate diagnosis.
We gather family, medical and neurodevelopmental history through our standardised questionnaires during the screening process.
Then we meet you for a feedback session for around 60 mins (face to face or online) where we gather additional information and go through the findings of the questionnaires and decide next steps.
If the decision is to continue with the ADHD pathway, we continue with the next phase in the pathway…
You will meet a Consultant for the Diva Assessment which lasts around 90 -120 mins. This focuses on the type of ADHD existent and behaviour now in relation to childhood. The details are passed onto the specialist for your diagnosis appointment. This appointment is face to face or online.
You will meet the Psychiatrist or a Consultant Clinical Psychologist for a 60 minute appointment who will assess whether you meet the criteria for an ADHD diagnosis, and may ask you further questions. Treatment plans can then be discussed at an additional cost. A comprehensive report will follow with next steps and recommendations.
Costings are in two parts.

ADHD is quite common, and many people living with it are not aware of it. Most people believe the condition is behavioural or a lack of management. However, the condition affects how the brain manages focus, impulse control, organisation, and emotional regulation.
ADHD can quietly impact education, career progression, relationships, and mental well-being long before it is formally recognised. A private ADHD assessment offers a timely and thorough way to understand these challenges and gain clarity about the most appropriate next steps.

Many people are living with ADHD without knowing, while others have only realised they have the condition in adulthood. The low diagnosis rate of ADHD has contributed to the misconception that the symptoms are behavioural.
On the contrary, ADHD is a neurodevelopmental condition. It affects the brain’s ability to regulate emotional responses, behaviour, and attention. Common symptoms of ADHD include difficulty focusing, impulsive behaviour, or hyperactivity, among others.
Typically, the onset of ADHD is in childhood. But they can continue into adolescence and adulthood, and many people live for years without a diagnosis, often attributing their struggles to personality flaws.
ADHD presents in several forms, and symptoms can vary significantly between individuals. The three main types of ADHD are:
Individuals with inattentive ADHD often struggle with sustained concentration and organisation. Common symptoms include:
This form is often underdiagnosed, particularly in girls and adults, as symptoms can be mistaken for lack of motivation or anxiety.
This type is characterised by high energy levels, impulsive behaviours, and difficulty sitting still. Symptoms may include:
This form is more visible in children, which often allows earlier identification.
Combined ADHD includes symptoms of both inattentiveness and hyperactivity-impulsivity. It is the most common type and can significantly affect daily functioning at school, work, and home.
Understanding which type of ADHD is present is essential for determining the best strategies and interventions.
It may be time to consider an ADHD assessment if you or your child is experiencing persistent symptoms that interfere with everyday life. Signs that an assessment may be beneficial include:

At Neuro Medical Group, we prioritise clarity, comfort, and thoroughness throughout the assessment process. Here is what your ADHD assessment in Cheltenham will typically include:
Before the appointment, you will be asked to complete forms that explore symptoms, medical history, lifestyle, and developmental background. Teachers or family members may also be asked to contribute when assessing children.
You will meet with a specialist clinician for a structured interview designed to understand how symptoms impact thinking, behaviour, emotions, and daily functioning. For children, parents or guardians play an essential role in providing a developmental context.
Standardised tests are used to assess attention, impulsivity, and related behaviours. These tools complement the interview and help ensure accuracy.
Once all information is reviewed, your clinician will explain the findings and let you know whether the criteria for ADHD are met. You will have time to ask questions and discuss what the diagnosis means for you personally.
You will receive a detailed diagnostic report including conclusions, supporting evidence, and tailored recommendations for treatment, school or workplace adjustments, and ongoing management strategies.
