ADHD is a ‘neurodevelopmental’ disorder which can affect a number of areas of brain function. With understanding, care and holistic treatment, people with ADHD can be successfully supported to improve their quality of life. Children and Adults with ADHD may experience difficulties with:

For you to have ADHD, the symptoms have to be severe enough to cause ongoing problems in more than one area of your life. As you grow older, diagnosing ADHD becomes more difficult because some of the symptoms are similar to those caused by other conditions, such as anxiety or depression. This makes getting an ADHD assessment as soon as possible vital for an accurate diagnosis.
We gather family, medical and neurodevelopmental history through our standardised questionnaires during the screening process.
Then we meet you for a feedback session for around 60 mins (face to face or online) where we gather additional information and go through the findings of the questionnaires and decide next steps.
If the decision is to continue with the ADHD pathway, we continue with the next phase in the pathway…
You will meet a Consultant for the Diva Assessment which lasts around 90 -120 mins. This focuses on the type of ADHD existent and behaviour now in relation to childhood. The details are passed onto the specialist for your diagnosis appointment. This appointment is face to face or online.
You will meet the Psychiatrist or a Consultant Clinical Psychologist for a 60 minute appointment who will assess whether you meet the criteria for an ADHD diagnosis, and may ask you further questions. Treatment plans can then be discussed at an additional cost. A comprehensive report will follow with next steps and recommendations.
Costings are in two parts.

ADHD is a neurodevelopmental condition that affects executive functions, including attention, impulse control, and motivation. It is not a behavioural flaw or a result of poor self-discipline. Instead, ADHD reflects neurological differences that influence executive functioning, the mental skills responsible for planning, prioritising, emotional regulation, and task completion.
These differences are present from childhood, although they may not consistently be recognised early. ADHD does not disappear with age, but its impact can evolve depending on life demands, environment, and coping mechanisms.
Understanding ADHD as a neurological condition is essential for accurate diagnosis and meaningful support.
ADHD presents differently from one individual to another. Some people experience persistent difficulty sustaining attention, becoming easily distracted or mentally exhausted during tasks that require focus. Others struggle more with impulsivity, such as acting quickly without reflection, interrupting conversations, or reacting emotionally before thinking things through.
Restlessness is another common feature, though it may not always be physical. Many adults describe an overactive mind that rarely slows down, making it difficult to relax or switch off. Emotional sensitivity, time mismanagement, and difficulty completing tasks are also frequently reported.
Because these experiences can overlap with stress, anxiety, or burnout, ADHD often remains undiagnosed without specialist assessment.
Diagnosing ADHD requires a comprehensive clinical process rather than a brief screening or questionnaire. A qualified clinician evaluates symptoms in line with recognised diagnostic criteria while considering personal history and life context.
The assessment explores both current challenges and early developmental patterns, including childhood behaviour, academic experiences, and social functioning. Clinicians also assess whether symptoms are longstanding, consistent, and present across multiple settings.
Standardised diagnostic tools support clinical interviews, allowing for a balanced and accurate evaluation. This thorough approach helps distinguish ADHD from other conditions with similar presentations.
A private ADHD assessment in Hampshire may be beneficial for individuals at various stages of life. Children and teenagers may benefit when attention difficulties, impulsivity, or emotional regulation issues affect learning or behaviour.
Adults frequently seek assessment after recognising long-term patterns of difficulty with organisation, focus, or emotional control, often accompanied by feelings of underachievement or chronic stress. Many only consider ADHD later in life, once coping strategies become less effective.
An assessment can also be valuable for individuals who feel previous evaluations did not fully capture their experiences or who are seeking a clearer understanding of their cognitive profile.
Booking a private ADHD assessment with The Neuro Medical Group is designed to be straightforward and transparent. The process begins with an initial enquiry, during which our team explains the assessment pathway, timeframes, and what the service includes.
We prioritise clear communication so individuals understand each stage before proceeding. Appointments are arranged with flexibility in mind, and guidance is provided to help you prepare effectively for your assessment. Confidentiality, professionalism, and patient comfort are central to our booking and assessment process.

Where appropriate, guidance may include treatment options, psychological strategies, workplace or educational adjustments, and referrals for further support. We aim to offer meaningful insight and practical next steps, not just a diagnosis.
