ADHD is a ‘neurodevelopmental’ disorder which can affect a number of areas of brain function. With understanding, care and holistic treatment, people with ADHD can be successfully supported to improve their quality of life. Children and Adults with ADHD may experience difficulties with:

For you to have ADHD, the symptoms have to be severe enough to cause ongoing problems in more than one area of your life. As you grow older, diagnosing ADHD becomes more difficult because some of the symptoms are similar to those caused by other conditions, such as anxiety or depression. This makes getting an ADHD assessment as soon as possible vital for an accurate diagnosis.
We gather family, medical and neurodevelopmental history through our standardised questionnaires during the screening process.
Then we meet you for a feedback session for around 60 mins (face to face or online) where we gather additional information and go through the findings of the questionnaires and decide next steps.
If the decision is to continue with the ADHD pathway, we continue with the next phase in the pathway…
You will meet a Consultant for the Diva Assessment which lasts around 90 -120 mins. This focuses on the type of ADHD existent and behaviour now in relation to childhood. The details are passed onto the specialist for your diagnosis appointment. This appointment is face to face or online.
You will meet the Psychiatrist or a Consultant Clinical Psychologist for a 60 minute appointment who will assess whether you meet the criteria for an ADHD diagnosis, and may ask you further questions. Treatment plans can then be discussed at an additional cost. A comprehensive report will follow with next steps and recommendations.
Costings are in two parts.

Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD) is a neurodevelopmental condition that affects the way a person focuses, organises tasks, manages impulses, and regulates activity levels.
The condition is more commonly associated with childhood, but often continues into adulthood, and many people may not realise they have it until much later in life. The condition can influence academic progress, work performance, relationships, emotional stability, and daily routines.
Without proper assessment and support, you may face persistent struggles with concentration, motivation, time management, and self-esteem. Identifying ADHD early gives people the opportunity to understand their challenges, recognise their strengths, and receive the professional guidance they need to thrive.
ADHD presents in different forms, and understanding these variations helps clinicians tailor the most effective support plan. The three recognised types of ADHD each have their own pattern of symptoms.
The inattentive type is characterised by difficulties staying focused, forgetfulness, frequent item loss, difficulty following conversations or instructions, and being easily distracted. Individuals with this type may appear quiet or reserved, which can sometimes lead to their symptoms going unnoticed.
The hyperactive-impulsive type includes behaviours such as restlessness, excessive talking, difficulty staying seated, acting without thinking, and interrupting others. This type is often more visible in children but can also present in adults.
The combined type includes symptoms from both inattentive and hyperactive-impulsive categories. It is the most common form of ADHD and can create challenges across multiple areas of daily functioning, including work performance, organisation, emotional regulation, and social interactions.
Recognising the specific type of ADHD is an important part of the diagnostic process, as it guides the recommendations and support strategies offered after assessment.
A private ADHD assessment in Lincoln is ideal when you suspect that ADHD symptoms are behind the challenges you’re facing in life.
People often seek assessment when they find it challenging to meet deadlines, stay organised, or manage daily tasks without feeling overwhelmed. Others may notice long-term patterns such as chronic disorganisation, emotional sensitivity, procrastination, forgetfulness, or impulsive decision-making.
Parents may seek an assessment for their child if teachers have raised concerns about behaviour, concentration, or school progress.
Adults may pursue an assessment after years of challenges in work, relationships, or personal productivity that suddenly make sense when viewed through the lens of ADHD. If symptoms are persistent, have been present since childhood, and impact day-to-day life, it is a strong indication that an assessment may be beneficial.
The NHS provides free ADHD assessments. As a result, there is a considerable waiting list that stretches into years. This delay can create ongoing frustration, academic disruption, or continued workplace difficulties.
A private ADHD assessment offers a faster and more personalised alternative. At Neuro Medical Group, appointments are available without lengthy delays, so you can receive clarity and a diagnosis much sooner. You have direct access to experienced ADHD clinicians, structured assessment tools, detailed reports, and tailored recommendations. The private route also ensures more time for your consultation, allowing you to discuss your symptoms, history, and concerns in depth.
Private assessments are particularly helpful for students, parents, and professionals who need timely documentation for workplace adjustments, exam accommodations, or additional support. Choosing a private pathway allows you to take control of your wellbeing without unnecessary waiting.
During your assessment, you will meet with one of our ADHD specialists for a detailed clinical interview. You will discuss your childhood experiences, academic history, behaviour patterns, emotional responses, and current challenges. We also use validated diagnostic tools to assess the presence and severity of ADHD symptoms. For children and teenagers, parents and teachers may also be asked to provide additional information to ensure a complete understanding of behaviour across different environments.
After the consultation, you will receive a written diagnostic report outlining the findings and recommendations. If you receive an ADHD diagnosis, we will guide you through the following steps, which may include medication options, behavioural strategies, lifestyle adjustments, and ongoing support. Our goal is to ensure you leave the process informed, supported, and equipped with a clear plan for the future.
We take pride in the trust our clients place in us. Here’s what they have to say about their experience and our commitment to quality.
