ADHD is a ‘neurodevelopmental’ disorder which can affect a number of areas of brain function. With understanding, care and holistic treatment, people with ADHD can be successfully supported to improve their quality of life. Children and Adults with ADHD may experience difficulties with:

For you to have ADHD, the symptoms have to be severe enough to cause ongoing problems in more than one area of your life. As you grow older, diagnosing ADHD becomes more difficult because some of the symptoms are similar to those caused by other conditions, such as anxiety or depression. This makes getting an ADHD assessment as soon as possible vital for an accurate diagnosis.
We gather family, medical and neurodevelopmental history through our standardised questionnaires during the screening process.
Then we meet you for a feedback session for around 60 mins (face to face or online) where we gather additional information and go through the findings of the questionnaires and decide next steps.
If the decision is to continue with the ADHD pathway, we continue with the next phase in the pathway…
You will meet a Consultant for the Diva Assessment which lasts around 90 -120 mins. This focuses on the type of ADHD existent and behaviour now in relation to childhood. The details are passed onto the specialist for your diagnosis appointment. This appointment is face to face or online.
You will meet the Psychiatrist or a Consultant Clinical Psychologist for a 60 minute appointment who will assess whether you meet the criteria for an ADHD diagnosis, and may ask you further questions. Treatment plans can then be discussed at an additional cost. A comprehensive report will follow with next steps and recommendations.
Costings are in two parts.

Ongoing difficulties with attention, organisation, or impulse control are not to be taken lightly. These challenges can affect academic performance, professional responsibilities, and personal relationships and could very well be symptoms of ADHD.
However, there are other conditions, such as anxiety and depression, that may present the same symptoms. The only way to be certain or rule out ADHD is through an assessment that can be conducted in a private clinic or at the NHS.
At The Neuro Medical Group, we offer comprehensive assessments led by experienced clinicians. Our approach is thorough, patient-centred, and tailored to each individual’s unique experiences. Through careful evaluation, we not only provide a diagnosis but also practical strategies to help improve daily functioning and overall well-being.

Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder, or ADHD, is a popular condition, but little about it is understood. It is a neurodevelopmental condition that affects various mental functions, including concentration, impulse control, and activity levels.
Contrary to how it is described as simply a behavioural challenge, the condition actually creates a neurological difference in how the brain processes information and regulates attention. ADHD can occur in both children and adults, although the symptoms may present differently depending on age.
This type of ADHD is characterised by difficulty focusing, forgetfulness, disorganisation, frequent item loss, and difficulty completing tasks. Children may appear distracted or daydream frequently, while adults may find it hard to stay on track at work or manage responsibilities.
The second type of ADHD is the hyperactive-impulsive type, which involves restlessness, fidgeting, difficulty staying seated, excessive talking, and acting without thinking. Adults may experience this as an inner sense of restlessness rather than outward hyperactivity.
The combined type is the third type of ADHD. It has symptoms of both inattentiveness and hyperactive-impulsive behaviour. This is the most common presentation in both adults and children.
Understanding the differences between these types is crucial to determining the correct diagnosis and treatment approach. A professional assessment can identify the specific type and its effects on everyday functioning.
Many people go through life misunderstood and uncertain about their symptoms and characteristics. They often struggle in class as children and struggle in the work environment as adults. They are unable to keep up with demands, without realising that ADHD may be the underlying cause. An assessment can offer clarity, validation, and a pathway forward.
An ADHD assessment can provide a deeper understanding of why specific challenges persist. For children, early diagnosis can prevent difficulties at school, improve academic performance, and support healthy emotional development. A diagnosis can explain long-term struggles with organisation, time management, or maintaining focus, even in adulthood. It can help remove the stigma of appearing not to be trying hard enough.
Getting assessed also opens the door to practical support. With a formal diagnosis, individuals can explore treatment options such as medication, behavioural therapy, coaching, and workplace or academic accommodations. The earlier ADHD is recognised, the quicker you can begin developing effective coping strategies that improve quality of life.
Without assessment and support, ADHD can contribute to low self-esteem, anxiety, depression, relationship issues, and ongoing frustration. A proper assessment ensures these challenges are understood within the correct clinical context, allowing individuals and families to move forward with confidence and direction.
While the NHS offers ADHD assessments, there are key differences between the two services that you should be aware of to help you better plan and make informed decisions that put your well-being first.
Many people experience long waiting times with NHS ADHD assessments due to high demand. These delays can affect children struggling in school or adults whose symptoms are impacting daily life. Private assessments provide a faster alternative for individuals who want answers sooner.
A private ADHD assessment at Neuro Medical Group can be booked quickly, allowing you to begin the process without delay. NHS waiting lists, on the other hand, can take months or even years, depending on the region.
Another difference is the level of flexibility and personalisation. Private assessments typically offer more appointment availability, longer consultation time, and a smoother overall process. Our clinicians at Neuro Medical Group take the time to understand your concerns in detail, ensuring a thorough evaluation that is tailored to your needs.
Private assessments also include comprehensive diagnostic reports, often with in-depth recommendations, treatment guidance, and next steps. While NHS assessments are clinically sound, the structure can be less flexible and may not provide as much personalised feedback.
It’s important to know that choosing a private ADHD assessment in Manchester does not replace NHS care; instead, it can complement it. With a private diagnosis, you can still access NHS prescriptions, school support, or workplace accommodations where appropriate.
Neuro Medical Group provides a structured and supportive assessment process designed to help you feel informed at every stage. Our clinicians specialise in ADHD and follow evidence-based diagnostic guidelines to ensure accuracy and reliability.
We take pride in the trust our clients place in us. Here’s what they have to say about their experience and our commitment to quality.
