ADHD is a ‘neurodevelopmental’ disorder which can affect a number of areas of brain function. With understanding, care and holistic treatment, people with ADHD can be successfully supported to improve their quality of life. Children and Adults with ADHD may experience difficulties with:

For you to have ADHD, the symptoms have to be severe enough to cause ongoing problems in more than one area of your life. As you grow older, diagnosing ADHD becomes more difficult because some of the symptoms are similar to those caused by other conditions, such as anxiety or depression. This makes getting an ADHD assessment as soon as possible vital for an accurate diagnosis.
We gather family, medical and neurodevelopmental history through our standardised questionnaires during the screening process.
Then we meet you for a feedback session for around 60 mins (face to face or online) where we gather additional information and go through the findings of the questionnaires and decide next steps.
If the decision is to continue with the ADHD pathway, we continue with the next phase in the pathway…
You will meet a Consultant for the Diva Assessment which lasts around 90 -120 mins. This focuses on the type of ADHD existent and behaviour now in relation to childhood. The details are passed onto the specialist for your diagnosis appointment. This appointment is face to face or online.
You will meet the Psychiatrist or a Consultant Clinical Psychologist for a 60 minute appointment who will assess whether you meet the criteria for an ADHD diagnosis, and may ask you further questions. Treatment plans can then be discussed at an additional cost. A comprehensive report will follow with next steps and recommendations.
Costings are in two parts.

Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder is a condition that affects the development of certain parts of the brain making it hard for it to control certain abilities such as attention, behaviour, and impulses.
The symptoms of ADHD are often thought of as poor motivation or lack of discipline. However, the symptoms and their impact have deeper roots with differences in the brain’s executive functioning, which influences planning, focus, organisation, and decision-making.
ADHD affects both adults and children with most cases being identified in childhood. However, the condition can present differently in children and adults.
In children, symptoms often become noticeable in school, where structured tasks and routines expose difficulties with concentration or impulsivity. In adults, the symptoms are more subtle but not any less destructive. They may include chronic disorganisation, procrastination, forgetfulness, or challenges managing responsibilities.
There is no known treatment for ADHD, but with assessment and support, you can develop strategies and coping mechanisms that significantly improve your functioning and life.
There is no single test that can check for ADHD. We rely on a series of assessments and accredited tools to weigh your symptoms and determine whether you have ADHD or other conditions such as anxiety and depression that can sometimes have similar symptoms.
The ADHD assessments are detailed and structured to evaluate patterns of symptoms, behaviour across different settings, and how these challenges affect daily life.
We follow evidence-based diagnostic guidelines, ensuring each assessment is thorough and clinically appropriate. The diagnostic process may include a clinical interview, questionnaires, rating scales, developmental history, and observations. We may also involve caregivers, teachers or school staff if the patient in question is a child to help us understand how the symptoms play out in the academic environment.
Diagnosis is based on factors such as whether the symptoms have been present since childhood, persist over time, and significantly impact functioning. It also helps to rule out other conditions that may mimic or co-exist with ADHD, such as anxiety, learning difficulties, or mood disorders.
A private ADHD assessment with Neuro Medical Group in Peterborough involves multiple components that work together to build a comprehensive understanding of the individual’s symptoms and needs.
The clinical interview forms a major part of the assessment. It helps to explore personal history, behavioural patterns, emotional wellbeing, and the daily effects of symptoms on your life.
These are used to compare symptoms with established diagnostic criteria. These tools are vital in evaluating attention, impulsivity, hyperactivity, and executive functioning.
The assessment also relies on developmental and medical history to understand how symptoms have evolved over time and whether any other factors may be influencing your behaviour and functioning. For children, we also source for feedback from schools or teachers to gain insight into behaviour in a learning environment.
Data collected from these components helps clinicians analyse the findings and prepare a detailed diagnostic report.
An ADHD assessment should be a priority. While it is also possible to get the assessment from the NHS, there are long wait times that means you struggle with the symptoms longer.
Private ADHD assessment offers several advantages, particularly for individuals who need answers sooner or prefer a more personalised diagnostic process.
The NHS ADHD services are often associated with long waiting times. Delayed assessment can prolong stress, affect school performance, impact careers, and keep you from receiving the help they need.
A private assessment provides quick access to experienced clinicians who specialise in ADHD. This makes it easier to begin understanding your symptoms and exploring treatment options without longer delays.
Private assessments offer more in-depth exploration of symptoms, additional time with clinicians, and comprehensive diagnostic reports. These reports often include extensive recommendations tailored to your age, lifestyle, and challenges.
Getting the results of the assessment can be a huge sigh of relief even when the results confirm a positive diagnosis. It allows you to understand the reason behind years of difficulties with focus, organisation, or emotional regulation.
For children, obtaining a diagnosis early can prevent academic struggles and support healthy emotional development. For adults, a diagnosis can improve self-understanding and help them access workplace adjustments or structured support.
It’s important to note that private assessment does not replace NHS care. Instead, it gives you a faster pathway to answers and a detailed plan that individuals can use when seeking further treatment or support through other services.
