ADHD is a ‘neurodevelopmental’ disorder which can affect a number of areas of brain function. With understanding, care and holistic treatment, people with ADHD can be successfully supported to improve their quality of life. Children and Adults with ADHD may experience difficulties with:

For you to have ADHD, the symptoms have to be severe enough to cause ongoing problems in more than one area of your life. As you grow older, diagnosing ADHD becomes more difficult because some of the symptoms are similar to those caused by other conditions, such as anxiety or depression. This makes getting an ADHD assessment as soon as possible vital for an accurate diagnosis.
We gather family, medical and neurodevelopmental history through our standardised questionnaires during the screening process.
Then we meet you for a feedback session for around 60 mins (face to face or online) where we gather additional information and go through the findings of the questionnaires and decide next steps.
If the decision is to continue with the ADHD pathway, we continue with the next phase in the pathway…
You will meet a Consultant for the Diva Assessment which lasts around 90 -120 mins. This focuses on the type of ADHD existent and behaviour now in relation to childhood. The details are passed onto the specialist for your diagnosis appointment. This appointment is face to face or online.
You will meet the Psychiatrist or a Consultant Clinical Psychologist for a 60 minute appointment who will assess whether you meet the criteria for an ADHD diagnosis, and may ask you further questions. Treatment plans can then be discussed at an additional cost. A comprehensive report will follow with next steps and recommendations.
Costings are in two parts.

Struggling with attention, organisation, impulsivity, or emotional regulation can significantly impact everyday life. Such struggles can affect how you learn in school and even your performance at work. Unbeknownst to many people, these struggles may be connected to ADHD.
In many instances, most people deal with these struggles for many years without understanding why. A private ADHD assessment can provide the answers you need and help you find a way forward. This thorough evaluation determines whether Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD) may be influencing these difficulties.

ADHD is a neurodevelopmental condition that affects how the brain manages focus, attention, and self-control. Although the condition is often linked to laziness, lack of discipline, or poor parenting, it is a neurological condition. ADHD impacts the neurological pathways responsible for executive functioning and the skills that govern planning, organisation, impulse control, and emotional regulation.
These differences can manifest in a variety of ways, affecting academic, professional, and personal life. Recognising ADHD as a neurological condition allows for accurate assessment and meaningful support rather than misplaced self-blame.
ADHD presents in distinct patterns, and recognising the type is important for adequate support:
Difficulty sustaining attention, following instructions, or completing tasks. People with this type may appear forgetful, easily distracted, or disorganised.
Individuals may display restlessness, impulsive decision-making, and difficulty controlling actions or emotions. Physical or mental hyperactivity is common.
A mixture of inattention and hyperactivity-impulsivity. Symptoms vary in intensity and may change depending on context and life stage.
Understanding the type of ADHD helps clinicians provide personalised recommendations and practical strategies for managing symptoms.
An assessment may be appropriate if attention difficulties, impulsivity, or organisational challenges interfere with daily functioning. Common triggers for seeking assessment include:
Chronic difficulty completing tasks or staying focused.
Persistent challenges in managing time or meeting deadlines.
Emotional responses that feel out of proportion or hard to control.
Recognition of patterns of difficulty during transitions, such as moving to higher education, taking on new work responsibilities, or parenting.
Early assessment can provide clarity, reduce stress, and allow individuals to access targeted support strategies.
ADHD assessments can help people at any age:
Early evaluation can help explain academic struggles, behavioural challenges, and difficulty focusing in class, enabling interventions that support learning and development.
Many adults seek assessment later in life after recognising long-standing patterns of difficulty with organisation, focus, and managing emotions. Understanding ADHD can provide validation and guidance for managing personal and professional challenges.
Parents may benefit from an assessment to better understand their child’s behaviour and access educational or therapeutic support.
Anyone experiencing ongoing difficulties that affect daily life may find that a formal ADHD assessment offers valuable insights.
A private ADHD assessment is a detailed evaluation carried out by a qualified clinician specialising in neurodevelopmental conditions. Unlike brief screenings or self-assessment tools, a private assessment provides a full understanding of your cognitive profile.
During the assessment, the clinician will:
Explore current challenges and their impact on daily life.
Review developmental history, including childhood and educational experiences.
Evaluate behaviour and attention patterns across multiple settings.
Use standardised diagnostic tools to support clinical judgement.
Following the assessment, you receive a detailed report summarising findings, diagnostic outcomes, and personalised recommendations for management or intervention.
While the NHS provides ADHD assessments, private evaluations have several advantages:
Private assessments are typically scheduled more quickly, reducing delays in receiving a diagnosis and support.
Private assessments often allow more time for discussion, exploration of history, and detailed evaluation of symptoms.
Reports include tailored recommendations for treatment, coping strategies, and lifestyle adjustments.
Private clinics often offer more options to fit appointments around personal or professional commitments.
Private assessments maintain high clinical standards, providing the same diagnostic rigour as NHS evaluations but with a more individualised approach.
At The Neuro Medical Group, our ADHD assessments are conducted by experienced clinicians who specialise in neurodevelopmental disorders. We combine professional expertise with a patient-centred approach, ensuring each assessment is thorough, supportive, and informative.
Our assessments focus not only on diagnosis but also on helping individuals understand their strengths and challenges. We provide guidance to help you make informed decisions about treatment, coping strategies, and practical daily-life adjustments.
Every assessment is carried out in a safe, respectful environment where your experiences are listened to and valued.
