ADHD is a ‘neurodevelopmental’ disorder which can affect a number of areas of brain function. With understanding, care and holistic treatment, people with ADHD can be successfully supported to improve their quality of life. Children and Adults with ADHD may experience difficulties with:

For you to have ADHD, the symptoms have to be severe enough to cause ongoing problems in more than one area of your life. As you grow older, diagnosing ADHD becomes more difficult because some of the symptoms are similar to those caused by other conditions, such as anxiety or depression. This makes getting an ADHD assessment as soon as possible vital for an accurate diagnosis.
We gather family, medical and neurodevelopmental history through our standardised questionnaires during the screening process.
Then we meet you for a feedback session for around 60 mins (face to face or online) where we gather additional information and go through the findings of the questionnaires and decide next steps.
If the decision is to continue with the ADHD pathway, we continue with the next phase in the pathway…
You will meet a Consultant for the Diva Assessment which lasts around 90 -120 mins. This focuses on the type of ADHD existent and behaviour now in relation to childhood. The details are passed onto the specialist for your diagnosis appointment. This appointment is face to face or online.
You will meet the Psychiatrist or a Consultant Clinical Psychologist for a 60 minute appointment who will assess whether you meet the criteria for an ADHD diagnosis, and may ask you further questions. Treatment plans can then be discussed at an additional cost. A comprehensive report will follow with next steps and recommendations.
Costings are in two parts.

ADHD is a neurodevelopmental condition that affects how the brain manages focus, attention, and self-control. Although the condition is often linked to laziness, lack of discipline, or poor parenting, it is a neurological condition. ADHD impacts the neurological pathways responsible for executive functioning and the skills that govern planning, organisation, impulse control, and emotional regulation.
These differences can manifest in a variety of ways, affecting academic, professional, and personal life. Recognising ADHD as a neurological condition allows for accurate assessment and meaningful support rather than misplaced self-blame.
ADHD is a neurodevelopmental condition that affects how the brain processes attention, impulses, and executive functions such as planning, organisation, and emotional regulation. It is not a sign of laziness or lack of intelligence. Instead, ADHD reflects differences in brain function that can influence behaviour, focus, and decision-making.
Without understanding ADHD, many individuals may struggle for years, attributing their difficulties to personal failings or external circumstances. Recognition of the condition enables practical interventions and strategies that can improve productivity, relationships, and overall well-being.
ADHD presents differently in each individual. Identifying the specific type is important for ensuring accurate assessment and effective management:
Marked by difficulties sustaining focus, following through with tasks, and organising responsibilities. Individuals may seem forgetful, distracted, or disorganised.
Characterised by restlessness, impulsive decision-making, and difficulty controlling actions. Individuals may struggle to remain still, speak out of turn, or act without considering consequences.
A mix of inattention and hyperactive-impulsive symptoms. The intensity and presentation can change depending on the environment and life stage.
Recognising the type of ADHD helps clinicians recommend tailored strategies and interventions to support effective daily functioning.
An ADHD assessment provides clarity, insight, and a clear path forward. Many individuals live for years without understanding why they struggle with focus, organisation, or impulse control. Diagnosis removes uncertainty, validates experiences, and provides a foundation for meaningful support.
A formal assessment can also open access to evidence-based interventions. These might include behavioural strategies, lifestyle modifications, therapy, or, in some cases, medication. Additionally, a diagnosis can support workplace or educational accommodations, allowing individuals to perform optimally in environments that may have previously posed challenges.
A private ADHD assessment is a comprehensive evaluation conducted by a qualified clinician experienced in neurodevelopmental disorders. Unlike online screenings or brief questionnaires, private assessments offer a detailed analysis of symptoms, history, and functional impact.
During the assessment, clinicians typically:
At the end of the assessment, individuals receive a detailed report outlining findings, diagnostic conclusions, and tailored recommendations to support daily life.
A private ADHD assessment in Suffolk may be appropriate if attention difficulties, impulsivity, or organisational challenges are affecting your daily life. Signs that an assessment may be beneficial include:
Assessments are helpful for all age groups. Adults often seek evaluation after recognising lifelong patterns of difficulty, while early assessment in children can provide crucial support for learning, socialisation, and confidence-building.
ADHD assessments can support a wide range of individuals:
Evaluation can identify why a child struggles with attention or behaviour and allow for targeted interventions to support learning and social development.
Many adults discover ADHD later in life. A formal assessment provides insight, validation, and guidance on managing daily challenges.
Understanding ADHD in children enables parents to implement effective strategies and communicate needs clearly with schools or healthcare providers.
Anyone experiencing persistent difficulties that interfere with everyday functioning can benefit from a professional ADHD assessment.
While NHS assessments are available, private evaluations often offer advantages:
Private appointments are generally scheduled sooner, reducing delays in diagnosis and intervention.
More time allows clinicians to thoroughly explore history and symptom patterns.
Private assessments provide actionable guidance tailored to your circumstances.
Appointments can be arranged to fit around work, school, or family commitments.
Private assessments uphold the same clinical standards as NHS evaluations but provide a more personalised, patient-focused experience.
