ADHD is a ‘neurodevelopmental’ disorder which can affect a number of areas of brain function. With understanding, care and holistic treatment, people with ADHD can be successfully supported to improve their quality of life. Children and Adults with ADHD may experience difficulties with:

For you to have ADHD, the symptoms have to be severe enough to cause ongoing problems in more than one area of your life. As you grow older, diagnosing ADHD becomes more difficult because some of the symptoms are similar to those caused by other conditions, such as anxiety or depression. This makes getting an ADHD assessment as soon as possible vital for an accurate diagnosis.
We gather family, medical and neurodevelopmental history through our standardised questionnaires during the screening process.
Then we meet you for a feedback session for around 60 mins (face to face or online) where we gather additional information and go through the findings of the questionnaires and decide next steps.
If the decision is to continue with the ADHD pathway, we continue with the next phase in the pathway…
You will meet a Consultant for the Diva Assessment which lasts around 90 -120 mins. This focuses on the type of ADHD existent and behaviour now in relation to childhood. The details are passed onto the specialist for your diagnosis appointment. This appointment is face to face or online.
You will meet the Psychiatrist or a Consultant Clinical Psychologist for a 60 minute appointment who will assess whether you meet the criteria for an ADHD diagnosis, and may ask you further questions. Treatment plans can then be discussed at an additional cost. A comprehensive report will follow with next steps and recommendations.
Costings are in two parts.

ADHD is quite common, and many people living with it are not aware of it. Most people believe the condition is behavioural or a lack of management. However, the condition affects how the brain manages focus, impulse control, organisation, and emotional regulation.
ADHD can quietly impact education, career progression, relationships, and mental well-being long before it is formally recognised. A private ADHD assessment offers a timely and thorough way to understand these challenges and gain clarity about the most appropriate next steps.

Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder is a neurodevelopmental condition that affects how the brain processes attention, motivation, and self-regulation. It is not a behavioural choice or a lack of discipline. But it is linked to differences in brain chemistry and neural pathways responsible for executive functioning.
People with ADHD often experience difficulty sustaining attention, managing time, controlling impulses, or regulating emotions. These challenges can present differently from one person to another, which is why ADHD is often misunderstood or overlooked, particularly in adults.
Although ADHD is a lifelong condition, individuals can develop effective strategies to manage symptoms and thrive in daily life with an accurate diagnosis and appropriate support.
ADHD does not present in the same way for everyone. Symptoms vary in intensity, pattern, and impact, making recognition challenging without professional assessment.
Some individuals primarily struggle with inattentiveness, finding it difficult to concentrate, organise tasks, follow instructions, or retain information. Others experience hyperactivity and impulsivity, which may involve restlessness, excessive talking, difficulty waiting, or acting without considering consequences. Many people experience a combination of both patterns.
ADHD is commonly categorised into three presentations:
Understanding the specific presentation is essential because it influences diagnosis and treatment planning.
An ADHD assessment may be appropriate when persistent difficulties begin to interfere with daily functioning, work performance, academic achievement, or personal relationships. For children, signs may emerge in school environments that require attention and behavioural regulation. For adults, challenges often become more noticeable during periods of increased responsibility or stress.
Many adults seek assessment after years of feeling overwhelmed, disorganised, or misunderstood, often having developed coping strategies that mask the symptoms. Others may pursue assessment after a child or family member receives a diagnosis, prompting reflection on their own experiences.
If symptoms have been present since childhood and continue to affect multiple areas of life, a comprehensive ADHD assessment can provide clarity and direction.
A private ADHD assessment in Bath can benefit individuals of all ages, including children, adolescents, and adults. Children may benefit from early identification, which can support educational planning and emotional development. Adolescents often benefit during transitional periods such as exams or increased academic pressure.
Adults frequently pursue assessment to better understand long-standing difficulties with focus, organisation, or emotional regulation. A diagnosis can be particularly valuable for those experiencing workplace challenges, burnout, or co-existing mental health concerns such as anxiety or low mood.
An assessment is also beneficial for individuals who have been misdiagnosed or whose symptoms were not fully explored during earlier evaluations.
One key distinction between private and NHS ADHD assessments is the time available. NHS services often face extended waiting times due to high demand, delaying diagnosis and support for months or even years.
Private ADHD assessments offer significantly faster access, allowing individuals to receive timely evaluation and clarity. Private services also tend to offer longer appointment times, enabling a more detailed exploration of symptoms, history, and functional impact.
Additionally, private assessments often provide greater continuity of care, with clearer communication, personalised feedback, and structured follow-up options. This can be particularly valuable for individuals seeking a comprehensive understanding of their diagnosis and treatment pathways.
At The Neuro Medical Group, our private ADHD assessment process is designed to be thorough, structured, and patient-centred. The process begins with an initial consultation, during which a clinician gathers detailed information about symptoms, developmental history, educational experiences, and current challenges.
Standardised diagnostic tools and evidence-based criteria are used to ensure diagnostic accuracy. Where appropriate, additional information may be gathered from family members, partners, or school reports to build a complete clinical picture.
The assessment is conducted in a supportive, non-judgmental environment, allowing individuals to openly discuss their experiences without pressure or stigma.
Our private ADHD assessment in Bath includes a comprehensive clinical evaluation carried out by qualified specialists with expertise in neurodevelopmental conditions. The assessment covers symptom presentation across different life stages, functional impact, and any co-existing conditions that may influence diagnosis or treatment.
Following the assessment, individuals receive a clear explanation of findings, including whether diagnostic criteria for ADHD have been met. A detailed written report is provided, outlining diagnostic conclusions and personalised recommendations.
Where appropriate, guidance may include treatment options, lifestyle strategies, workplace or educational adjustments, and referral pathways for further support. Our aim is not only to provide a diagnosis but also to equip individuals with practical insights and next steps.
Receiving an accurate ADHD diagnosis can be life-changing. For many individuals, it provides validation and understanding of experiences that may have been previously misunderstood or self-attributed to personal shortcomings.
A proper diagnosis also helps ensure access to appropriate interventions, whether that involves medical treatment, psychological support, coaching, or practical adjustments in education or employment. Without accurate assessment, individuals may continue to struggle without targeted support.
At The Neuro Medical Group, we prioritise diagnostic integrity and patient understanding, ensuring each assessment delivers clarity rather than confusion.
