ADHD is a ‘neurodevelopmental’ disorder which can affect a number of areas of brain function. With understanding, care and holistic treatment, people with ADHD can be successfully supported to improve their quality of life. Children and Adults with ADHD may experience difficulties with:

For you to have ADHD, the symptoms have to be severe enough to cause ongoing problems in more than one area of your life. As you grow older, diagnosing ADHD becomes more difficult because some of the symptoms are similar to those caused by other conditions, such as anxiety or depression. This makes getting an ADHD assessment as soon as possible vital for an accurate diagnosis.
We gather family, medical and neurodevelopmental history through our standardised questionnaires during the screening process.
Then we meet you for a feedback session for around 60 mins (face to face or online) where we gather additional information and go through the findings of the questionnaires and decide next steps.
If the decision is to continue with the ADHD pathway, we continue with the next phase in the pathway…
You will meet a Consultant for the Diva Assessment which lasts around 90 -120 mins. This focuses on the type of ADHD existent and behaviour now in relation to childhood. The details are passed onto the specialist for your diagnosis appointment. This appointment is face to face or online.
You will meet the Psychiatrist or a Consultant Clinical Psychologist for a 60 minute appointment who will assess whether you meet the criteria for an ADHD diagnosis, and may ask you further questions. Treatment plans can then be discussed at an additional cost. A comprehensive report will follow with next steps and recommendations.
Costings are in two parts.

ADHD is a neurodevelopmental condition that affects executive functions, including attention, impulse control, and motivation. It is not a behavioural flaw or a result of poor self-discipline. Instead, ADHD reflects neurological differences that influence executive functioning, the mental skills responsible for planning, prioritising, emotional regulation, and task completion.
These differences are present from childhood, although they may not consistently be recognised early. ADHD does not disappear with age, but its impact can evolve depending on life demands, environment, and coping mechanisms.
Understanding ADHD as a neurological condition is essential for accurate diagnosis and meaningful support.
ADHD presents differently in each individual, which is why it often goes unrecognised for years. While everyone struggles with attention or restlessness from time to time, ADHD symptoms tend to be persistent, disruptive, and present across multiple areas of life.
You may find it hard to concentrate on tasks, follow conversations, or complete projects, even when they are important or interesting. These issues often persist despite effort and can impact work, education, and daily responsibilities.
Many people with ADHD struggle to plan, meet deadlines, or keep track of belongings. This can lead to chronic stress, missed opportunities, and feelings of underachievement.
Acting without thinking, interrupting others, or experiencing intense emotional reactions are common signs. These symptoms can affect relationships and self-esteem if left unaddressed.
If these challenges have been present for a long time and affect multiple areas of your life, an ADHD assessment may be worth considering.
ADHD is not a one-size-fits-all condition. Clinicians recognise different types, also known as presentations, based on how symptoms appear.
This type is marked by difficulties with focus, memory, and organisation rather than visible hyperactivity. It is often overlooked, particularly in adults and women, because symptoms can be more internalised.
Individuals may experience restlessness, excessive talking, impulsive decision-making, and difficulty staying still. These symptoms are often more noticeable in children.
This is the most common form of ADHD, where individuals experience both inattentive and hyperactive-impulsive symptoms that affect daily functioning.
Understanding the type of ADHD you may have is an important step in accessing the most appropriate support and management strategies.
ADHD is diagnosed through a comprehensive clinical process rather than a single test or scan. A proper diagnosis ensures that symptoms are not caused by other conditions such as anxiety, depression, or sleep disorders.
The diagnostic process focuses on both past and present experiences to establish long-term patterns.
Clinicians explore childhood behaviour, education, work life, and relationships to identify whether symptoms have been present since early life.
This includes understanding how symptoms affect concentration, emotional regulation, productivity, and social interactions today.
Validated questionnaires and clinical frameworks are used to ensure an accurate and evidence-based diagnosis.
The sooner ADHD is identified, the sooner appropriate support can be put in place. Delaying diagnosis often leads to unnecessary stress, low self-esteem, and secondary mental health difficulties.
Early diagnosis can improve academic performance, behaviour, and emotional well-being, while helping families and schools provide targeted support.
Many adults in Hull seek assessment after years of feeling misunderstood or underperforming. A diagnosis can bring clarity, self-acceptance, and practical solutions at any age.
If ADHD symptoms are affecting your quality of life, it is never too early or too late to seek an assessment.
While ADHD assessments are available through the NHS, many individuals choose private assessments due to long waiting times and limited appointment availability.
Private ADHD assessments often allow you to be seen much sooner, helping you avoid months or even years of uncertainty.
Private assessments typically offer longer consultation times, allowing clinicians to fully explore your experiences without feeling rushed.
Choosing a private ADHD assessment in Hull gives you faster access to answers and a more tailored diagnostic experience.
A private ADHD assessment with Neuro Medical Group is designed to be thorough, supportive, and patient-focused.
Each stage plays a vital role in building an accurate clinical picture.
You will be asked to complete structured forms that gather information about your symptoms, history, and daily challenges. These help guide the clinical discussion.
During the assessment, a specialist clinician will explore your experiences in detail, including childhood behaviour, education, work life, and emotional well-being.
Using recognised diagnostic criteria, the clinician will determine whether ADHD is present and identify the specific presentation.
Following your assessment, you will receive a comprehensive written report outlining the findings, diagnosis, and clinical recommendations. This report can be shared with your GP, employer, school, or other professionals if needed.
A diagnosis is not the end of the journey but the beginning of effective management.
This may include lifestyle strategies, coaching, therapy, or medication advice where appropriate.
Many individuals benefit from reasonable adjustments that help them work or study more effectively after diagnosis.
Understanding how your brain works can reduce self-blame and empower you to make informed choices moving forward.
